Chunked Buffer Iframe API

This page embeds a VDO.Ninja viewer in a real iframe and sends setBufferDelay messages from the parent page.

Use UUID or UUID: "*" for connected chunked peers. The default message updates session.buffer, while each peer keeps its own requested base in session.rpcs[uuid].buffer.

Buffer Commands

Synthetic Impairment

Demo-only receiver impairment. This wraps the active chunked playback path inside the iframe and can delay or drop completed frames to mimic late delivery and underbuffering.

No synthetic impairment active.

Live State

Implementation Notes

The two most useful values to watch are:

session.rpcs[uuid].buffer = requested base buffer for that peer.

stats.chunked_mode_video.buffer_buffer = live effective target after any adaptive logic.

chunked/chunkbitrate/bitrate/maxvideobitrate are bitrate controls in kbps, not receiver delay.

chunkedbuffer is the sender pacing/adaptation window. Use setBufferDelay or chunkbuffer for receiver playout delay.

chunknack=1 enables indexed reliability and retransmission; chunkcache is the resend cache window.

The default publisher params use a conservative 600 kbps profile without forcing a camera resolution, so odd webcams and browser test devices can still open. For a weak-link 360p cap, add quality=2 and fps=30 if the camera supports those constraints; try quality=1 and 900 kbps values only after the route has enough headroom.

If you want deterministic QA, disable or stub the adaptive buffer helper in a dedicated test harness. For real integrations, leave adaptation on and observe both the requested base and the effective target.
