Degradation preference

Compare how a webcam stream adapts when bandwidth is limited. Open the publisher, then the viewer. Use a separate browser profile or device for the viewer.

Profiles lower frame rate and resolution under sustained pressure, then recover gradually. Talking head reaches a 2 fps cap; experimental IRL reaches 3 fps. Actual delivery can be lower.

Preserving resolution may reduce frame rate. Preserving frame rate may reduce resolution. These preferences cannot guarantee usable video on a failing connection.

Close the previous viewer before trying another preference. This example does not impose packet loss or change bitrate limits.
